But, I guess if you don&#8217;t like crowded places and\u00a0 cities, and you want to discover a city during your trip without many people around, <strong>this is the perfect month to visit Athens<\/strong>. Of course, all touristic places like Monastiraki, Plaka, Acropolis are always open so you won&#8217;t missed the most important sights and monuments of the city or some souvenirs shopping or having your breakfast at Anafiotika &#8211; and maybe you enjoy it even more.<\/p>\n<h3>Thins to do in Athens during August<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Watch a movie in an <a href=\"https:\/\/staging.thecloudkeys.com\/en\/travel\/athens\/entertainment\/cinema\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">open-air cinema\u00a0<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Swim in an empty <a href=\"https:\/\/staging.thecloudkeys.com\/en\/travel\/athens\/outdoor\/beach-guide\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">beach near Athens<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Take the tram for Syntagma and enjoy Athens Riviera<\/li>\n<li>Have a picnic in a <a href=\"https:\/\/staging.thecloudkeys.com\/en\/travel\/athens\/parks\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">park of Athens<\/a> &#8211; yes, they exist!<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/staging.thecloudkeys.com\/en\/tip-of-the-day-a-visit-at-snfcc-is-always-a-good-idea\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Visit Stavros Niarchos Cultural Center<\/a>: you will always find something\u00a0 interesting to do and see there!<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/staging.thecloudkeys.com\/en\/tip-of-the-day-todays-live-in-athens\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Attend an outdoor concert<\/a> of a local or international artist\/band<\/li>\n<li>Go for an<a href=\"https:\/\/staging.thecloudkeys.com\/en\/travel\/athens\/outdoor\/hiking\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> easy hike<\/a> in Parnitha mountain or just take the cable to the top: It is sure that the temperature will be much cooler than the city center<\/li>\n<li>Enjoy cocktails and local beers in the terraces of the bars that remain opens and discuss with the locals anything you want<\/li>\n<li>Discover the pools\u00a0 of Athens and have a swim with an Acropolis view<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>An important note that you should have in mind is that on <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/staging.thecloudkeys.com\/en\/travel\/travel-public-holidays\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">August 15th is the biggest orthodox celebration for Greeks<\/a>,<\/strong> so it is a bank holiday, that means that on this day even transports won&#8217;t be really often, shops will be closed, and few people will be around the city. So, plan your trip wisely &#8211;\u00a0 even on August you will really enjoy Athens with many things to do and to see!<\/p>\n<h3>The public transport on August 15th<\/h3>\n<p>August 15: How public transport will operate: Changes to public transport schedules on August 15 &#8211; How buses, metro, and trolleys will operate.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Metro Line 1 (ISAP)<br \/>\n<\/strong>From Monday 11 to Sunday 17 August, services will run every 12.5 minutes, including Friday 15 August 2025. Services between 5:00 a.m. and 5:30 a.m. and 11:30 p.m. and 1:00 a.m. will always run every 15 minutes.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Metro Line 2<\/strong><br \/>\nFrom Monday, August 11, to Thursday, August 15: Services every 9.5\u201311 minutes between 7:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m. and every 12.5 minutes before 7:00 a.m. and after 10:00 p.m. From Friday, August 15 to Sunday, August 17: Trains run every 15 minutes. Trains after midnight every Friday and Saturday night run every 15 minutes.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Metro Line 3<\/strong><br \/>\nFrom Monday, August 11 to Thursday, August 14, 2025: Services every 8.5\u201310 minutes until 10:00 p.m., every 11.5 minutes after 10:00 p.m. From Friday, August 15 to Sunday, August 17: Trains run every 10 minutes between 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m., and every 11.5 minutes during the rest of the day. Services after midnight every Friday and Saturday night run every 15 minutes. Services to and from the airport run daily every 36 minutes.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Buses and Trolleybuses<\/strong><br \/>\nThe summer schedule for buses and trolleybuses in Athens will continue until schools reopen. On Friday, August 15, Sunday and holiday schedules will be in effect. Passengers can check the daily schedules on the OASA Telematics app or at telematics.oasa.gr.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tram<\/strong><br \/>\nFrom Monday, August 11, to Sunday, August 17, 2025: Schedules every 15 minutes. Schedules after midnight every Friday and Saturday night are every 25 minutes.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Suburban<\/strong><br \/>\nThe regular schedule applies.
