National Archaeological\u00a0 Museum<\/h3>\n

Of course, don’t leave from the neighborhood before visiting the National Archaeological Museum which is located right next to the park, the largest and maybe the most important museum of Athens. Even if there is not a temporary exhibition the day you want to visit it, its permanent exhibition\u00a0 has some of the most important archaeological treasures worth visiting and it would be your right beginning for your journey\u00a0 to ancient Greece. The Unseen Museum is the well-known exhibition project of the Hellenic National Archaeological Museum that brings to the fore antiquities stored in its vaults, away from the visitor\u2019s eyes.<\/p>\n

The Unseen Museum presents the\u00a0\u201cMinoan octopi\u201d<\/strong>. It is a clay chest-shaped larnax and three stirrup jars dating to the 13th and 12th centuries BC\u0395, originating from Crete. These objects served as offerings and \u201cvessels of death\u201d dedicated to the deceased.<\/p>\n

Large painted octopi spread across the surfaces of the larnax and coil tightly around the bodies of the vessels, inviting speculation about the enigmatic symbolism of this sea creature within the Minoan theology of death. The larnax and the three vases come from the Minoan Collection of the National Archaeological Museum and are presented in the exhibition for the first time.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0\u201d Minoan octopi\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0are presented in the Altar Hall (Hall 34) from Wednesday,\u00a0October 29<\/strong>\u00a0to Monday,\u00a0January 26, 2026<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
