Visual artist Andreas Finch, or Finch of Athens as he is more widely known, in collaboration with Art Place \u2013 Kyriakos Petalidis gallery, presents the exhibition “On Winged Winds \u2013 The Athenian Kiosks,<\/strong><\/a>“ from January 22 to February 22, 2026, at the Cultural Center of the Municipality of Athens<\/strong>, with the support of the Organization for Culture, Sports, and Youth of the Municipality of Athens.<\/p>\n It is a representation of the history and evolution of Athens’ kiosks, through 20 three-dimensional, varied-sized, visual creations of historical kiosks as they appear in photographic representations.<\/p>\n The exhibition, which is the result of long-term research by Andreas Finch, records and presents the gradual evolution of Athenian kiosks from the beginning of the last century to the present day, with an emphasis on their historical, architectural, and folkloric development over time.<\/p>\n The creative depiction begins with the first polygonal kiosks in Syntagma Square as they appear on postcards of the time, followed by the first “Minion” in Chavteia, the “Muses” of Omonia Square, to the “Koutala” in Glyfada and the kiosk that collapsed on Panepistimiou Street during the metro construction works in 1997.<\/p>\n The concept behind the exhibition will be presented by author Thanasis Kappos, journalist Elena Dakoula, artistic curator Kyriakos Petalidis, and creator Andreas Finch.<\/p>\n Exhibition venue:<\/strong> Athens Cultural Center\/50 Akadimias Street Opening of the Paper Clouds exhibition by Italian artist Anna Onesti, at the Triton & Shell Multipurpose Venue \u2013 Paper Art Hub<\/p>\n The exhibition<\/strong> Tradition & contemporary perspective In dialogue with paper A special moment in time Handmade paper made from mulberry fibers (kozo), known as washi in Japan and hanji in Korea, plays a central role in her work \u2014 a highly durable and versatile paper traditionally used in calligraphy and printing as well as in everyday objects<\/p>\n From space to the sky Exhibition information:\u00a0<\/strong> Short bio of Anna Oresti:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n Anna Onesti is an Italian artist with a long-standing interest in handmade paper, natural dyes, and traditional East Asian techniques. Since 1994, when she made her first trip to Japan on a Japan Foundation scholarship, she has been studying in depth the techniques of making, dyeing, and decorating handmade paper in Japan, Korea, India, and Indonesia. Her works have been presented internationally in museums and institutions and are included in public and private collections. \nThe exhibition features handmade kites full of color and power. Floating in space, they highlight their balance and invite us to imagine them in flight, understanding the relationship between shape and color, weight and air. Although they appear simple in construction, kites require precision, detail, and a deep knowledge of materials in order to fly. Their functionality is not just a feature, but an organic part of the artistic process.<\/p>\n
\nAnna Onesti draws inspiration from historical types of kites from Japan and Korea, creating her own contemporary approach through this traditional art.<\/p>\n
\nThe temporary exhibition Paper Clouds converses with the exhibition “Handmade Paper from Asia to Europe,” shifting the focus from the history of the material to its contemporary artistic use. It is the first solo exhibition by an artist presented at Triton & Shell, as part of its activities to promote paper as an artistic and cultural medium.<\/p>\n
\nThe opening of the exhibition, a few weeks before Clean Monday<\/a>, creates a subtle but meaningful link between a distant Asian tradition and a custom deeply rooted in Greek culture.<\/p>\n
\nThe exhibition is complemented by photographs of kites in flight, which transport the viewer from the exhibition space to the open horizon, connecting the work with the sky, the wind, and movement. The narrative moves between the static and the dynamic, the object and the action. Selected publications and documents from previous exhibitions further illuminate the artist’s journey.<\/p>\n
