Tip of the day 4/10 – World Animal Day

If you often visit Athens, it is sure that you notice many stray animals, dogs but mainly cats wondering around the city, always very friendly, and also many food and water spots from locals. Yes, Athenians love animals, and stray cats too, even if they don’t have always the funds to adopt them officially – but they always try to find them a house and give them some food. And this is also the reason that so many animal welfare organisations exist in the city, in the country too, that also want to give them medical support and find them a home.

Of course,  Athens has its  own zoo park,  as well  some more farms with animals with children activities too.  Find them in our  travel guide about zoos and farms, and during your next visit  to Athens  spend your  day with them. Probably it will be your favorite day in the city!

And a bonus fact with a spot that, especially if  you are a cat lover,  you  shouldn’t miss to visit it. Cat Cafe Athens (Nileos 54, Athina 118 51) is  the only  cafe in the city where you  can have  your coffee or a light snack with some, many cats around you. But you should  make a reservation as there is a chance not to  find a place.
