“A Night at the Museum”: the Industrial Museum of Photaeros celebrates Halloween with activities for the whole family. Pumpkins, bats and… ghosts are waiting for you inside the old flare factory… Can you handle it?

What are the bats doing in the old gasworks? How did the pumpkins get to Old Furnaces? What do treats have to do with… ghosts?

After last year’s great success, the action “A Night at the Museum” returns again to the Industrial Gas Industrial Museum in Technopolis of the Municipality of Athens to offer the most… scary night experience to young and old! Inspired by Halloween, the museum’s team has planned and is organizing a series of exciting and original activities for families with children aged 7-11 on Friday 4 November. From 17.30 to 22.00, participants will experience a fun and highly…spooky evening full of games, dancing, exploration and many surprises inside the industrial monument that gave light to the city of Athens for more than 120 years!

Our little friends, after putting on their scariest costume, will take part in an… awesome and scary art workshop. Inspired by horror stories, they will compose their own “dark” model, using recyclable and other strange materials. What about the grown-ups in the group? While the kids get creatively busy, caregivers will participate in the mystery and puzzle game, Gas Mystery, which comes in a more Halloween version offering a unique escape experience. The game takes place with a natural setting in one of the plant’s state-of-the-art buildings, the New Waterhouse. Will they manage to escape? The time is counting down…

Is there more? Of course there is, after a fun body music workshop. If the belly were a percussion instrument, what sound would it make? What rhythm can our fingers create? Young and old alike, with dance teacher Natasa Chanta-Martin, make strange sounds and spooky musical patterns with all their body parts, get rhythmically in tune, communicate better and discover the magical world of body music!

It’s time for a break for delicious snacks that will provide the necessary energy for the more mysterious treasure hunt to come. Young and old alike navigate the less lit buildings of the factory with tools such as a map, a flashlight, speed, observation and lots of imagination! They discover puzzles and hidden information, “unlock” the secrets of the old factory through play and mystery, and collect the strangest pumpkins!
