The frieze depicts the procession of the greatest festival of ancient Athens, the Panathenaea. 380 human figures, men and women, pedestrians, horsemen and charioteers, 200 animals and objects and gifts to Athena, the patroness of Athens, attend her birthday for eternity, from then until today. Now, the public has the opportunity to admire the frieze from the comfort of their own homes, through an innovative website that contains all the photographs and descriptions of all the surviving stones of the frieze that are in the Acropolis Museum and abroad.
The tour of the Parthenon frieze can be accessed from all mobile devices (mobile phones, tablets, computers) and visitors will be able to explore the frieze through the thematic sections: The Parthenon, Meet the Frieze, Explore the Frieze and Thematic Tour. In the first two sections, users can learn general information about the history, design and construction of the frieze, while in the next two sections they can explore the frieze either by stone or through a tour of its individual themes.
