World Bread Day is celebrated every year on 16 October at the initiative of the International Union of Bakers and Confectioners (UIB), with the slogan “Make your own bread or buy it from your local bakery”. Bread is the world’s food product par excellence. Timeless, cross-cultural and full of nutrients, it can be found in every corner of the world, in every culture, in all periods of the human journey.

So as you are walking around Athens, this is the perfect day to have a stop at the local bakeries you meet in your route and taste some delicious pastries.
