Saturday 9 May 2026: Metallica live in Athens

Metallica has announced that its record-breaking M72 World Tour will be extended for a fourth year, with 16 shows in cities across Europe and the UK in May, June, and July 2026.
Greece will be the first to welcome Metallica on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at the Olympic Stadium, bringing the impressive 360° (in-the-round) stage of M72, which has already amazed millions of viewers worldwide, to our country for the first time.
Gojira and Knocked Loose will be special guests at the Athens concert, in an explosive line-up that promises an unforgettable experience.
Since its launch in April 2023 in Amsterdam, the M72 tour has brought Metallica in front of approximately 4 million viewers. It has been described by the international media as “an overall life-affirming experience” (Billboard), “undeniably epic” (Metal Hammer), “a breathtaking show” (Detroit News), ‘triumphant’ (Kerrang!), and “Metallica’s most cohesive and fiery performance in years” (Los Angeles Times).
The M72 2026 tour will continue the tradition of No Repeat Weekends, with each of the two nights featuring a completely different setlist and different support acts. These include the band’s first concerts in Frankfurt and Dublin since the World Magnetic Tour in 2009 (Deutsche Bank Park, May 22 & 24 and Aviva Stadium, June 19 & 21, respectively), as well as their highly anticipated return to Budapest (June 11 & 13) and London (July 3 & 5).
The tour also includes individual performances with full production and the legendary in-the-round stage in cities such as:
Athens (May 9), Bucharest (May 13), Gdynia (May 19), Zurich (May 27), Berlin (May 30), Bologna (June 3), Glasgow (June 25), and Cardiff (June 28).
Gojira, Pantera, Knocked Loose, and Avatar will be supporting Metallica on this year’s European tour. See below for details by date.
The M72 2026 European/UK tour is organized by Live Nation.
As always, a portion of the proceeds from each ticket sold will be donated to local charities through the band’s All Within My Hands foundation. The foundation, created in 2017 as a way for Metallica to give back to the communities that have supported them over the years, has raised over $20 million since its inception — providing $11.4 million in grants for vocational and technical education programs, including the innovative Metallica Scholars initiative, now in its seventh year, more than $7.4 million to combat food insecurity, and over $4.7 million for natural disaster relief efforts.

Friday 15 May 2026: Patti Smith Quartet live in Athens

Patti Smith returns to Athens for one of the most significant musical moments of the year. On 15 May 2026, at the Lycabettus Theatre, the “punk priestess,” poet, artist, and activist will present a unique set where music and words unite in a ritualistic, deeply human experience – a performance that transcends a regular concert and functions as a shared breath, an invitation to a better world.
Fifty-one years after Horses, Patti Smith’s impact remains enormous: from “Because the Night” to “People Have the Power,” from her poetic readings to her activist work, she continues to inspire musicians, writers, and citizens worldwide. She has been awarded the National Book Award for Just Kids, inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and her literary and artistic output continues to influence contemporary arts.
Access to Lycabettus Theatre
Parking access is reserved only for people with disabilities, seniors, and taxis for pick-up/drop-off.
The City of Athens provides a free shuttle bus from Sarantapichou 19:00–21:30.
After the concert, a shuttle service is available for departure.

Saturday 23 May 2026: Iron Maiden in Athens

IRON MAIDEN RETURN TO EUROPE AND BEYOND IN 2026 FOR THE RESUMPTION OF THEIR TWO YEAR,
50TH ANNIVERSARY,
‘RUN FOR YOUR LIVES’ WORLD TOUR.
WITH A SET LIST DRAWN FROM THEIR CAREER DEFINING EARLY DECADES AND FEATURING THEIR MOST SPECTACULAR SHOW EVER, THESE NEW DATES INCLUDE A VERY SPECIAL UK SHOW NEXT SUMMER.
IRON MAIDEN have announced the first dates of a very busy schedule for 2026, starting with a summer return to Europe to predominantly play festivals and also stadiums in countries and regions not visited in 2025. The subsequent month will see the start of visits to many other parts of the world, all of which will be announced later.
The initial European dates are as below and more headline festival shows will be announced by the festivals themselves in parallel with ironmaiden.com. It’s a busy year so following this there will be no Maiden shows in 2027.
Says Steve Harris – “We are all loving this RUN FOR YOUR LIVES TOUR. The fans have been amazing, the set list is perfect for the 50th Anniversary, the show is arguably our best ever and ticket demand was incredible with pretty much everywhere sold out and over a million fans attending. So we all thought we should play some more shows in Europe before heading out to other parts of the world later in the year.
Of course Simon Dawson will be joining us once again on the drummer’s stool, and both he and the whole band would like to thank our fans for the terrific reception you have given him on the first leg.
We’ve always enjoyed playing festivals, especially as we get to play to people who aren’t just there for us, and we love that challenge! So we decided to revisit as many great Metal festivals as we could get to in this period. Plus we will also get to play stadiums in Greece, Romania, Slovakia and Bulgaria where we didn’t get to this year and have always loved playing to the passionate fans out there.”
Manager Rod Smallwood comments, “We were absolutely blown away by the overwhelmingly positive reaction of our fans and from across the mainstream media to the first leg of our Run For Your Lives Tour. We knew we had created a special show, but the energy of all our fans at every single concert we played was picked up on by the band and I think we all experienced something really memorable, and arguably our best tour ever. Throughout our career festivals played a huge part, starting with Rock in Rio in 1985 of course, by enabling us to play in front of new fans and hopefully convert them to being Maiden fans, which, in the absence of radio or mainstream media helped enormously to increase our following. So this tour, based around most of Europe’s pre-eminent Metal fests, is also a huge thank you to those very festivals for playing such an important part in the fifty years… and counting… story of Iron Maiden.
Besides Eastern Europe we will also play some stadium shows in regions we missed in Germany (Hannover), France (Lyon-Décines) and Italy, the latter at Milan’s legendary San Siro Stadium, home of both AC and Inter Milan and we will, I am told, be the first ever Metal band to play there. It’s always great to break more new ground – even after all these years!!
You will note the schedule below just says UK SHOW for July 11th and there is a good reason for that! We are working on something special for our loyal UK fans including an extension of our Eddie’s Dive Bar concept we launched last year…so watch this space!
“Fans will also notice we will play Paris La Défense Arena again on Mon June 22nd after already playing two sold out nights there this year to 75,000 fans… but there is good reason for that!
Yes, we know you have been asking, so we are going to film this special show for you and for posterity! We chose an indoor stadium to see the best of the production and also a great audience which we know Paris is and always has been for us. So we decided to return to Paris and hope fans there still want to see us! This will be our 31st show ever in Paris, it’s always been a bit special since we first visited there with KISS back in 1980!
“Finally it was really special to see that the vast majority of our fans appreciated and respected our request to severely limit their use of phones at our concerts, ideally just keeping it in their pockets the whole time, especially in those standing areas in front of the stage. There were exceptions in a couple of places sadly but overall our fans’ understanding and cooperation made a colossal difference to the atmosphere of every show and increased the enjoyment enormously for the band and fans alike.
While we encourage our fans to follow this again at all our shows in 2026, in Paris specifically, we will be working with Yondr the company that creates phone free spaces where fans are given a secure locked pouch which allows you to keep your phone on you at all times. They will facilitate this process ultimately for the benefit of you, our wonderful fans and I am sure that, like all of us, you do not want to watch the resulting film, seeing banks of phone screens in the shot. Therefore, to help our film crew, we will make the huge floor at La Défense completely Yondr phone free so we can ensure the show – and of course all of you in the crowd – look as phenomenal as possible on camera!
In the rest of the venue we are requesting that fans once again keep their phones in their pockets and enjoy the show ‘in the moment’, rather than raise their phone in the air trying to film sections and thus inconveniencing those around them. So if a so-called fan near you thinks they are special and filming what they selfishly want please just ask them, very politely of course, to put their phone somewhere the sun doesn’t shine!
And, as I mentioned before, for all our fans outside Europe, we most definitely have not forgotten you and have some big announcements coming later for 2026. Rest assured we will be visiting as many of you as possible next year, before the band take a well-earned break from the road in 2027.”

SIVERT HØYEM
SATURDAY 19 SEPTEMBER 2026
CITY OF ATHENS LYCABETTUS THEATRE
Sivert Høyem, one of Norway’s most distinctive artists, known both as the commanding frontman of Madrugada and for his acclaimed solo career, returns to Europe in 2026 with a tour that celebrates milestones and new beginnings alike.
On Saturday, September 19, he will perform live in Athens, for the first time on the stage of the City of Athens Lycabettus Theatre, in a captivating concert where his deep, familiar voice will meet its natural setting beneath the city’s star-lit sky.
Following the release of his last two albums, On an Island (2024) and the brand-new Dancing Headlights (2025), Høyem has once again confirmed his place as one of the most remarkable voices in Nordic music. His songs are praised for their raw, melancholic beauty, evoking the vast northern landscapes of his homeland, and his live performances are as intense as they are unforgettable.

Two of his solo albums, Lioness and Exiles turn ten and twenty years old, while Høyem himself celebrates his fiftieth birthday. Yet beyond the numbers, this tour is a tribute to a life devoted to music and to an artist who can fill a room with a single note.
Together with his trusted band, Høyem will guide audiences through highlights from across his career: from brand new material to timeless songs like Prisoner of the Road, Moon Landing, Into the Sea and Madrugada’s iconic Majesty. More than a celebration, this is an invitation to experience the voice, presence and intensity that have made Sivert Høyem a towering figure in Norwegian music.

JACK SAVORETTI ANNOUNCES 28-DATE UK AND EUROPEAN TOUR – HIS BIGGEST TOUR TO DATE
JACK SAVORETTI’S BRAND NEW ALBUM ‘WE WILL ALWAYS BE THE WAY WE WERE’
WILL BE RELEASED ON APRIL 10, 2026
Today, Jack Savoretti announces a 28-date UK and European tour – his biggest to date. The dates will round off a major year for Jack, following the release of his ninth studio album We Will Always Be The Way We Were, due on April 10.
Last year, Jack announced a series of special shows, including a one-off night at London’s Royal Albert Hall, which sold out in under an hour. He will also play already sold-out headline dates at De Montfort Hall in Leicester and Liverpool Philharmonic, alongside an intimate BRITs Week for War Child performance at London’s Emerald Theatre, all taking place ahead of the album’s release.
The Autumn 2026 tour will open in Athens on September 25, before travelling through a further ten countries across Europe and arriving in the UK on October 21 to play Plymouth Pavilions. The UK and Ireland leg includes 15 dates, with shows in Glasgow, Dublin, Belfast, Cardiff, Gateshead, Manchester and more.
Jack Savoretti’s ninth studio album, We Will Always Be The Way We Were, is a bold return to his musical roots, recorded at Eastcote Studios in West London. Marking 20 years since his debut album Between the Minds, the record finds Savoretti reconnecting with the raw storytelling and cinematic soul that defined his earliest work. Written and recorded with his long-time touring band, the album celebrates the craft, camaraderie and creative freedom that have carried him through two decades at the forefront of British songwriting.
“This is a full-circle album,” says Jack. “It’s going back to my roots, to the neighbourhood where I first started making music – with the same friends and musicians I met around Ladbroke Grove and Portobello Road. It’s the album I always wanted to make when I was starting out, but didn’t yet have the courage or experience to make. Now I do.”
Jack’s current single, the title track from the album, has just been added to the BBC Radio 2 A List and the beginning of the month saw him performing the track on Graham Norton, watch the performance here.
