As Greece is not only Athens, and there are plenty of interesting spots to visit during Christmas period, here is a page to save and plan your Christmas holidays in Greece visiting some of the most magical  villages and themed parks in the country. We have already talked about Mill of elves in Trikala, probably the most popular, the village of enchanted and Asterokosmos in Thessaloniki and Christmas in Kalamata.  Lets discover what else happening during this festive period.

Christmas Tree of Acceptance, Chalkida, Evoia

About 1h from Athens by suburban  train from Athens Central  Railway Station (Larissis  Station), the Municipality of Chalkida, for the 4th consecutive year, decorates a  special Christmas tree, apart from the big tree in central  square: the Christmas Tree of Acceptance, on the occasion of the 3rd of December, International Day of Persons with Disabilities.

The festive events with the lighting of the large Christmas tree in Chalkida, which will take place on Saturday, November 29, 2025, at 19.00, at the Agios Nikolaos pier on the beach in Chalkida.

The Tree of  elves, Patras

The largest and most spectacular Christmas Park of Southwestern Greece opens its gates and will operate from 22 November 2025 to 5 January 2026, . A walk in the Christmas Park of Patras is a special experience full of festive mood and magic. Colorful decorations, impressive scenery, bright lights, heroes from the world of fantasy and fairy tales, children’s activities, games and festive melodies, gifts, sweets and delicacies create a warm and joyful atmosphere. Fairytale Village @ Tripoli 

Just two hours away from Athens, Tripoli city have already illuminated its Christmas tree and on December 18th the Fairytale Village will be open to welcome its guests to put them in festive mood. Check here all the scheduled events  to plan your visit!

Christmas in Vamvakou village 

If you prefer a mountainous village than a big city, Vamvakou should be your destination in Greece! It’s only a 3h-drive from Athens and it’s a traditional Greek village where you will meet all  the authentic greek customs and seasonal  traditions. It’s also a chance to meet this village as this is a unique initiative aiming at the complete revitalization of the village of Vamvakou, which some years agos was completely abandoned, based on the history, human capital and natural wealth of the area, implemented with the moral and financial support of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF). Area Synest Theme Park

Arachova

Stroll through snow-dusted streets, savor traditional dishes by the fire, and shop for handmade gifts. For adventurers, nearby ski slopes and scenic trails await. Oniroupoli (Dream City), Drama 

For 22 consecutive years, it’s one of the longest running parks happening every Christmas season  in Drama and a typical  destination for Greeks from every part of the country. it’s quite far from Athens, about 7-hours drive, so it’s better to combine it with  Thessaloniki or some other Greek city from below list. But in any case, you won’t regret your visit and the time spent on travelling. It opens on  4 December 2025, 18.00, and remain  open until 6 January 2026. Christmas World, Komotini 

Very close to Drama, you will  find Komotini -also  near to Greek borders with Turkey. This year, Komotini creates and presents, probably, the most instagrammable park of  the country. So, in the Christmas Park of Komotini, you will meet amazing ideas based on the unique themes of Christmas and chocolate create the most picturesque courtyard in a theme park in Greece. Oversized, colorful, Christmas exhibits evoke a positive feeling and motivate thousands of photos. In a humorous mood, they offer interaction, evoke smiles and motivate image sharing through social media. The theme park, will be open from Saturday 7 December 2024 to Monday 6 January 2025. Until Sunday 5 January, the Christmas market in Agia Paraskevi Park will be also open.

White Christmas, Ιoannina

One of the most beautiful Greek cities located  by a  lake,  Ioannina,  has also  its own  Christmas fairytale village. Under the name “White Christmas”,  located in Panepirotic Stadium of Ioannina, is waiting for you to come and enjoy a glamorous Christmas market, an amusement park for young and old, do your own dance moves in our ice rink and of course visit Santa’s post office to ask him for your gift for this year! The gates of White Christmas have already opened, and will remain open until January 7, daily from 16:00 to 22:00 and weekends and holidays from 11:00. Check here the program of the village!

Veroia 

Veria, a hidden gem of northern Greece, as well a city with high archaeological  interest as here it is located the museum of Vergina, offering also a festive charm during the holiday season! With its beautifully decorated squares, cozy markets, and rich traditions, this historic town offers a warm and magical Christmas atmosphere. Magical Lake District of Kastoria

Another beautiful Greek city,  surrounded by a lake is Kastoria.  And this year it’s the city that Pinocchio chose to live his Christmas. Park of Colors, Katerini 

Katerini,  a 4h30-drive from Athens, the city surrounded from Olympus, the highest Greek mountain, opens  soon its Christmas village which called “Park of Colours”, and this will be another colorful experience to live during this season in Greece. The park will  open on December 14th with some special  events and Christmas concerts, and from that day Katerini will transform into another Christmas Greek destination. Larissa Santa City 

Larissa Santa City, the themed park of Larissa, the city of Santa Claus and the ultimate Christmas destination for children and adults. The top events of the park will be the Christmas Parade of floats on Christmas Eve, as well the Santa Truck, Santa’s Shack and Christmas “market” in the Central Square, the ice rink in Post Office Square, Santa Walk and a huge party on New Year’s Eve. Larissa is becoming a bright city again, a Christmas city, a festive city, in the centre and in every district. The city squares are decorated with hundreds of thousands of lights, and so are the pedestrian streets throughout the shopping center.
